Idea introduces Rs. 309 plan with 1GB data per day to take on Reliance Jio

Indian telecom operator Idea Cellular has introduced a Rs. 309 prepaid tariff to take on the Jio Rs. 309 prepaid plan. While it is not a completely new plan, Idea has similar offers, but this one is specifically aimed to compete with the Jio offer.

This is the latest move by Idea to take on Reliance Jio. The latest entrant in the Indian telecom sector, Jio had initiated a price with its attractive plans. In the Idea Cellular Rs. 309 prepaid tariff, you get 1GB 3G data per day along with unlimited calling benefits. It is similar to the Jio offer but comes with lesser validity and Idea is offering 3G instead of 4G.

While Idea already offers a Rs. 357 plan, the Rs. 309 prepaid plan offers better data and calling benefits. The plan gets you 1GB 3G data per day and unlimited local + STD calling. However, Idea has capped the free calls to 250 minutes per day or 1000 minutes per week. Upon surpassing this limit, you will be charged 1 Paise per second.

Also, since this is a non-commercial plan, Idea Cellular allows you to call 100 unique numbers a week for free after which you will be charged. The plan comes with a validity of 28 days and you can recharge with using Idea website or My Idea app.


Reliance Jio offer

Since the Idea Cellular Rs. 309 prepaid tariff takes on the Reliance Jio plan, here are the details of the Jio offering. The Reliance Jio Rs. 309 prepaid plan comes offers 1GB per day 4G data with 1GB per day usage cap.

You get unlimited calling without any capping on the Jio offer. You also get access to the Jio apps suite and unlimited SMS to all operators. The unlimited calling in the Jio tariff applies for local, STD, as well as roaming calls. This plan is valid for 49 days and you can recharge online from the website here.
