Xiaomi Redmi 5A now available offline: Price, specs and more

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has started selling its latest budget device, the Redmi 5A in the offline market, after launching the device as an online exclusive last month. Currently, only the 3GB variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be available from Mi Home stores and Xiaomi Prefered partners.

While the Xiaomi Redmi 5A was launched at Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB variant, it will be available for Rs. 7,499 from offline stores, which is Rs. 500 higher than the online price. As of now, there is no information about offline availability of the 2GB RAM variant of the device.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 skinned on top. The device features a 5 inch HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of ~294 PPI.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The graphic on the device are handled by Adreno 308 GPU. The device comes with 2GB or 3GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone comes with a dedicated microSD card slot, so you can use two SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously.


Coming to the camera department, the device features a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash. The camera comes with features such as PDAF, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. On the front, the device sports a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Infrared port, microUSB 2.0 and FM Radio.

Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A 3GB variant will be available for Rs. 7,499 in the offline market in Gold and Dark Grey color options.
