After much speculations, the two latest handsets by HMD-Global led Nokia, the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 are getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update. The company has been swift at updating their phones and has been providing regular security patches. Both these devices are exclusive to the Chinese market and haven’t been launched in the global market yet.
Talking about the Nokia 7, it was unveiled last year in October. The Nokia 6 is a more recent device, which was launched on January 5 this year. The Nokia 6 has only undergone one sale since its launch. Currently, both the devices are exclusive to China.
Android 8.0 Oreo on Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7
HMD-Global led Nokia has taken the Stock Android approach which has allowed speedier updates for their phones. Nokia has promised a 2-year support and monthly security patch updates for their devices. With an update to Android 8.0 Oreo, users will get new features like notification badges, new settings layout, better battery management, and so forth.
Talking about the Nokia 7, it is a mid-range smartphone from the company. The device sports a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3. With a glass back, the device is featuring an Aluminium 7000 series frame. With 16MP rear and 5MP front cameras, the Nokia 7 gets the Bothie feature with Carl Zeiss Optics.
In terms of hardware, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with 4GB or 6GB RAM. You get 64GB internal storage with up to 256GB expansion option using a microSD card.
Coming to the new Nokia 6 (2018), it is a refreshed iteration of the previous year’s device. While the phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, you will get an update to Android 8.0 Oreo as soon as you boot it. This device features a 5.5 inch full HD IPS LCD display in a metal unibody chassis.
With 16MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras, the Nokia 6 (2018) is powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor, coupled with up to 4GB RAM. You get 64GB internal storage with up to 128GB expansion option.
