Contradicting its previous announcement, Honor is now set to offer Android Oreo experience on the Honor 8 by providing the features of the EMUI 8.0 that is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Moreover, the company has also announced the list of smartphones to get Android 8.0 Oreo-backed EMUI 8.0.
According to the list revealed on Huawei’s Club forums, the EMUI 8.0 update will be rolled out for the Honor 7X, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9, Honor 8 Pro or Honor V9, and Honor View 10. Interestingly, the list includes the Honor 8 which is not compatible with the new EMUI version due to some “hardware and software limitations”, as per Honor's official Tweet last week.
Now, in a statement given to Android Police, an Honor spokesperson said that the new features of EMUI 8.0 would be ported to Honor 8 to provide users some benefits from the latest user experience. However, it is still unclear whether Android 8.0 Oreo will be provided along with the EMUI 8.0 features or just its core features.
The latest EMUI update will bring features that might not be in line with all the features that were originally debuted with EMUI’s 8.0 launch in last October. The Honor spokesperson also stated that the latest update details will be released within a week's time.
