Essential Phone coming to India on Amazon, could cost under Rs 30,000

Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone is now expected to make its way to India via Amazon and that too for a competitive price tag. This is so as the company is clearing stocks of the device. We may get to see the device in the coming month or two.

The rumour comes from TechPP and claims the device to be coming to India as part of the stock clearance of Essential‘s first phone. It is tipped to come as an Amazon-exclusive, which means the latest version which was launched with Alexa integration is likely to make its way to the country.

To recall, the Essential Phone was launched by Andy Rubin on May 30 last year. The device comes with flagship level specifications and mods. Now, the phone is tipped to launch here in India through Amazon. The leaks suggest it to be priced under Rs 30,000 as part of a clearance sale from the company, with the report suggesting that the price could also be as low as Rs 24,999

Coming to the specifications, the Essential Phone comes with a 5.71-inch IPS-LCD panel with 1312 x 2560p resolution. This display bears 18:9 aspect ratio and ~504ppi pixel density. While the panel stretches all the way to the top, there is a small notch cut out for the front-facing camera.

In terms of optics, the device is packing Dual 13MP rear cameras with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. An 8MP single camera is given at the front. This camera is placed at the centre at the top in a notch. Next to the camera setup, there are magnetic pins that allow the modularity on the phone.

Talking about the hardware, you get a Snapdragon 835 SoC powering the device. The processor is coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. There is no microSD card option on the device. The modularity supports only one accessory so far, i.e. a 360-degree camera that connects to the phone.

Launched with Stock Android 7.1 Nougat, the phone has already received the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. Being a stock Android device, it enjoys fast updates and security patches. The Essential Phone is powered by a 3,040 mAh battery and comes with Single Nano SIM slot with 4G VoLTE compatibility.
