HMD Global launching new Nokia 2018 smartphones in India on April 4

HMD Global has sent out invites for a Nokia launch event for India scheduled on April 4. The invite doesn’t give any hint about which new Nokia phones we can expect at the launch event. However, it is speculated that we might see Nokia 6 (2018) launch as suggested by the company earlier.

HMD Global launched five new Nokia devices –  the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 7 Plus, the Nokia 6 (2018), the Nokia 1 and the Nokia 8810 4G – at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The new Nokia phones were expected to roll out in India starting April and the Nokia 1 with Android Oreo Go edition has already hit the market at the price of Rs 5,499. Now, it’s speculated that the other Nokia devices will probably be unveiled on April 4.

The invite sent out by HMD Global states,“HMD Global invites you to an exclusive gathering to unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones.” Which hints that the company will launch the new Nokia phones at the event. However, according to a previous report, the company would launch the Nokia 6 (2018) in the Indian market.

Nokia 6 (2018)

The Nokia 6 (2018) which comes as a successor to the last year’s Nokia 6 was launched at MWC 2018. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo with Android One program, so it is safe to say that the handset will receive Android P as well.

If we talk about its specs, the phone features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, coupled with 3GB or 4GB RAM. For the camera, the smartphone has a 16MP rear sensor with Zeiss optics and features like PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. There is an 8MP fixed focus front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The Nokia 6 (2018) comes with 32GB or 64GB onboard storage which is expandable up to 128GB. In India, the company might launch the 3GB/32GB variant of the phone. Connectivity options are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh battery.

Apart from Nokia 6 (2018), the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, premium devices were also launched at the MWC event. We might also expect any of them making its way to India on April 4. Both the phones come with a dual rear camera setup with Zeiss optics.
