Xiaomi Redmi S2 spotted on 3C certification site, launch expected soon

Xiaomi has been working on launching another affordable Redmi phone this year dubbed as the Redmi S2. Xiaomi hasn’t yet revealed the exact launch date of the Redmi S2, but now the smartphone has been spotted on the 3C benchmarking website in China, which hints that the launch of the phone is nearing.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is now spotted on 3C (Compulsory Certification of China) as reported by 91 Mobiles. The 3C benchmarking site listing of Redmi S2 means the launch of the device is imminent. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed anything official about the smartphone, however, we have a few rumors about the phone on the internet that also reveal some key features of the phone.

The latest 3C certification site listing doesn’t reveal any new details about the Redmi S2. But, last week the Redmi S2 was spotted on TENNA website which revealed a lot of specs of the smartphone. As per the TENNA listing, the Redmi S2 will feature a similar design as the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. So, the Redmi S2 will also sport a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

On the hardware front, the Redmi S2 is expected to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, same as the Redmi Note 5. The smartphone is supposed to come in three variants – one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, one with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, and the top model will come with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.


In the camera department, the Redmi S2 is expected to come with a dual camera setup on the rear with the primary camera of 12-megapixel, alongside the secondary camera with an 8-megapixel sensor. On the front, the Redmi S2 is likely to sport a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The smartphone is tipped to come with a 3,080mAh battery and run on Android 8.1 Oreo software with MIUI 9 on top.

Xiaomi may bring the Redmi S2 in India as well, however, there is no word regarding this as of now. Previously, XDA Developers managed to get the firmware files of the Redmi S2 which revealed that the phone will most likely to be launched in only India and China.
