Xiaomi has increased the prices of Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi TV 4 in India

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has today announced that it is increasing the price of its popular budget smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in India by Rs. 1,000. Additionally, the price of the MI TV 4 55-inch has been increased by Rs. 5,000.

The increase in prices has been attributed to the increase in import taxes of PCBAs. Xiaomi has said that the company is working on increasing the local PCBA production capacity but the company would reach 100% only in Q3 of 2018. To meet the increasing demand for the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, the company has started increasing the PCBA imports.

It will be interesting to see if the increase in price leads to more people buying the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, which is priced very competitively and offers similar specifications. The changed pricing will be effective from tomorrow, 1 May. Those who have pre-ordered the device will get it at Rs. 13,999 but all new orders will be priced at Rs. 14,999.

The Mi LED TV 55-inch has suffered the same fate and the TV will now be available for Rs. 44,999 after an increase of Rs. 5,000. This is the first time Xiaomi has increased the prices of its products in India.
