Oppo R17 Announced with Notch Display with Gorilla Glass 6, In-display Fingerprint Scanner, More

Oppo is said to be planning on a new smartphone in its R series in China. After being teased last week, the new Oppo R17 has now been listed on the official website. The listing reveals the complete specifications and looks of the phone.

The highlights of new Oppo R17 are a 19:9 aspect ratio notch display with 91.5% screen-to-body ratio and Gorilla Glass 6 protection, 25MP AI front camera and a 3500mAh battery with VOOC Flash charge support. Notably, it will be powered by recently announced Snapdragon 670 chipset, so it will be a mid-range phone.

OPPO R17 specifications

The new Oppo R17 will sport a 6.4-inch FHD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) display with a notch on top and 91.5% screen-to-body ratio. It is protected by recently launched Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It will also sport an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, it will be powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 670 10nm processor with Adreno 615 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB internal memory. The Dual SIM phone runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.


In terms of camera, it will sport dual rear camera with a 16MP primary rear camera with LED flash, and a secondary rear camera. There will be a 25MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX576 sensor, and AI features alongside 3D Portraits.

Connectivity options on the new phone include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. The Oppo R17 will get 3500mAh battery with VOOC Flash charge support.

The company has also started teasing another variant dubbed as R17 Pro which is rumored to pack a triple rear camera setup. It will feature the same specs as Oppo R17.

The OPPO R17 will come in Twilight Blue and Starry Purple colors with gradient finish. The official listing reveals that the R17 will be available for pre-order from August 18 in China. So, the official launch of Oppo R17 could happen anytime this week.
