Honor Magic 2 launched with six cameras, slider design and in-display fingerprint sensor

Honor Magic 2 was launched at an event in Beijing yesterday. The smartphone comes with a slider design and triple camera setup at rear and front both. Other highlights of the phone are the company’s latest 7nm Kirin 980 chipset, 40W SuperCharge fast charging, in-display fingerprint sensor, 3D face unlock, and an AI-based virtual assistant.

Honor Magic 2 is currently available for pre-orders in China with a starting price of CNY 3,799 (roughly Rs. 40,300). Let’s check out full specs, pricing and availability details here.

Honor Magic 2 Specifications

The Honor Magic 2 sports a 6.39-inch FHD+ (2340×1080 pixels) AMOLED display panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone has slider design and the display slides down to open the front camera and 3D Face Unlock sensors. It also sports an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone is IPX2 rated that makes it dustproof and splash-proof.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Huawei’s new 7nm Kirin 980 processor with ARM Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. Memory wise, it packs up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB storage. The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0.


In terms of camera, it has triple rear camera setup having a 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 24MP secondary monochrome sensor with f/1.8 aperture, and a 16MP super wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and LED flash. It also features AI based image stabilization. Up front, there is a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 2MP+2MP cameras with a f/2.4 aperture for 3D face unlock.

The Magic 2 packs a 3500mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge tech that can charge the phone from 0 to 50% in 15 minutes. Connectivity options on the phone include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual band), NFC, and USB Type-C. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack but the company is bundling a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter.

Price, availability

The Honor Magic 2 price starts at CNY 3,799 (Rs. 40,300 approx.) for the 6GB+128GB variant. It is priced at CNY 4,299 (Rs. 45,600 approx.) for the 8GB+128GB variant and CNY 4,799 (roughly Rs. 50,100) for the top 8GB+256GB variant. The pre-orders of the phone start from today, November 1 and it will go on sale from November 6. There is no word on its availability and price in India yet.
