Vivo first brought the concept of popup selfie camera with Vivo NEX to make the display notch-free. Keeping the tradition, Vivo launched another smartphone today with a pop up selfie camera. The Vivo V15 Pro comes with a lot of new things like the new 32MP camera and the latest Snapdragon 675 processor from Qualcomm.
The V15 Pro will go on sale from 6th of March and the price of the smartphone has been set at Rs 28,990 for the only 6GB/128GB version. We have the latest Vivo flagship right here at GadgetsToUse and after using it for a few days, here are our initial impressions of the smartphone.
Design
The Vivo V15 Pro is a flashy smartphone with a nice pattern going on at the back and a glossy finish all over the device. The smartphone fits perfectly in hands and the glossy back makes it look more premium. Starting from the front, the smartphone holds a full view display on the front with no notch or punch hole.
The smartphone comes with the pop up selfie camera slot on the top wih the sensors. On the left is a dual SIM card slot and a smart button to launch the Google Assistant. The right side of the smartphone holds the volume control and power button. The micro USB port, the loud speaker and the SD card slot is at the bottom side of the display.
The back of the Vivo V15 Pro is rather clean because of the the absense of the fingerprint sensor. Other than the pattern, you can see the camera petrusion on the top left side which feels a bit when you put the smartphone flat on a table. Vivo did a really great job makign the smarpphone thin and light, despite the features it offers.
Display
The Vivo V15 Pro comes with a 6.4 inches Super AMOLED display with no notch or punch hole. The aspect ratio of the display is 19.5:9 with FHD+ (2340X1080) pixels resolution. The display is a Super AMOLED panel which Samsung uses in their flagship smartphones.
The display is bright and pleasing to look on to because of that seamless viewability. There is no notch, just a small chin at the bottom and the earpiece is placed on the top bezel. The brightness levels, color reproduction, viewing angles, and color contrast are perfect. This is the best any brand can do in a smartphone coming at such price.
Camera
The Vivo V15 Pro comes with a triple camera sensor at the back including a 12MP sensor with an 8MP ultra wide sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. The smartphone comes with a feature to capture a 48MP shot using its 12MP sensor. A single LED flash is provided with the main camera.
The front-facing camera is where things get interesting, not only the placement of the camera is impressive, the specs are impressive too. The front-facing pop-up camera is a 32MP sensor which is no delusion, it can actually capture a 32MP selfie.
The camera is not just super buffy but also comes with some smart AI capabilities. The camera can auto-detect the best possible mode according to the situation you are capturing. If there is a person in the viewfinder, the camera automatically adjusts itself to portrait mode and start a three-second countdown to take the picture.
Performance
The Vivo V15 Pro comes with a Qualomm Snapdragon 675 processor made with 11nm FinFET process. The processor is paired wtih 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage which is expdable via dedicated slot. Vivo V15 Pro is the first smartphone to featuer the Snapdragon 675 processor.
The smartphone runs on FunTouch OS which is a customized OS based on Android 9 Pie making it even snappier and fast. The smartphone can run all the high end games available right now like PUBG Mobile or Vainglory at highest possible graphic settings.
Battery and Other Features
The smartphone features a 3700 mAh battery which comes with Dual Engine fast charging. The 18Watts fast charger is boxed which is a nice touch but the charging port is still so old school (micro USB).
In other features, the smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor which is pretty fast in unlocking the smartphone. The smartphone even comes with a face unlock feature which is fast enough despite that the camera has to pop up to recognize the face.
Wrappign up
The Vivo V11 Pro is a value for money smartphone with some camera tricks to show off to your friends. The smartphone packs quite a punch with its fast processor and sufficient RAM. Vivo has left nothing which could be crammed into a smartphone of 2019 at such a price.
