ASUS Zenfone 6 with Snapdragon 855, 48MP camera launching on May 16

ASUS has confirmed that it will introduce its flagship Zenfone 6 series on May 16 at an event in Valencia, Spain. The smartphone has been leaked on benchmarking sites that reveal its key specifications. As per the leaks, Zenfone 6 will sport a 48MP camera and it will come with the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset.

Earlier this week an ASUS phone with model number ASUS_I01WD surfaced on Geekbench and the AnTuTu listing of the same model has also surfaced. These listings reveal Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM and Android Pie, etc.

The AnTuTu listing also reveals 128GB storage and Full HD+ (2340 ×1080 pixels) 19:5:9 aspect ratio display. So, the Zenfone 6 might feature a waterdrop notch display unlike a wide notch on the Zenfone 5 series.

AnTuTu listing also reveals that the phone will sport a 48MP rear camera which could be a Sony IMX586 sensor. This also hints that the phone may sport a 48MP front camera too, but this seems only an error. As far as rear cameras are concerned, it could pack triple rear cameras, including an ultra-wide angle lens and a depth sensor alongside the 48MP main camera.

The listing shows that the device scores 363,172 points on AnTuTu which is similar to the other phones with Snapdragon 855. However, it is not the best score. So, this could be a prototype unit. The retail unit might score higher. We should know all the details on May 16 when it goes official.
