HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 Pro Launched: Specifications, Price, Availability

HUAWEI’s HONOR smartphone brand announced its HONOR 20 series smartphones yesterday at an event in London. The HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 Pro come with mostly similar specs and features. HONOR being the more premium comes with a little difference in the camera, battery, RAM and storage.

If we talk about key features, both the new HONOR phones feature a punch-hole display, powered by Kirin 980, sport quad rear cameras with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor and a 32-megapixel in-screen front camera.

Design & Display

Both the phones sport a dynamic holographic design that uses 3-layers on the glass back to give a depth effect when the light falls at certain angles. The 20 Pro has a 3D curved back. They both feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

HONOR 20

The HONOR 20 comes in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue colors, Icelandic White colors and the 20 Pro comes in Phantom Black and Phantom Blue colors. HONOR 20 Pro’s Dimensions are 154.6 x 73.97 x 8.44mm and weight is 182g. HONOR 20’s dimensions are 154.25 x 73.97 x 7.87mm and its weight is 174g.

They both sport a 6.26-inch (2340×1080 pixels) FHD+ All-View display with 91.7% screen-to-body-ratio.

HONOR 20 Pro

Performance

The devices are powered by HUAWEI’s Kirin 980 7nm processor with Mali-G76MP10 GPU, Dual NPU and GPU Turbo 3.0. The 20 Pro also comes with a Graphene Cooling Sheet technology for better heat dissipation.

The HONOR 20 packs 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage and HONOR 20 Pro packs 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. They both run on Android 9 Pie with Magic UI 2.1 skin atop.

Cameras

HONOR 20 PRO

HONOR 20 Pro features a 48-megapixel rear camera with 1/2″ Sony IMX586 sensor. It comes with an f/1.4 aperture lens for the first time in the world that takes 50% more light compared to the f/1.8 aperture. It has 4-axis OIS, EIS, PDAF, & Laser autofocus. There are a 16-megapixel 117-degree Ultra Wide Angle lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 4-axis OIS that offers 3x loss-less zoom and 5x hybrid zoom.

There is also a 2-megapixel camera for 4cm macro shots. The company said that 20 Pro’s camera has scored 111 points on DxO mark which is the same as OnePlus 7 Pro.

HONOR 20

The HONOR 20 also comes with the same 48-megapixel primary sensor but it has f/1.8 aperture lens and doesn’t have OIS. However, it retains the 16-megapixel 117-degree Ultra Wide Angle lens and the 2-megapixel camera for 4cm macro shots. It doesn’t have the telephoto lens and comes with a 2-megapixel depth sensor instead.

They both sport a 32MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 3D Portrait Lighting feature.

Battery and Connectivity

Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, USB Type-C. For audio, they support USB Type-C audio, Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound, Dual-microphones, and Huawei Histen 6.0.

The HONOR 20 packs a 3750mAh battery and HONOR 20 Pro packs a 4000mAh battery. They both come with 22.5W (4.5V-5A) HONOR SuperCharge fast charging technology that offers a 50% charge in 30 minutes.

Price, Availability

HONOR 20 is priced at 499 Euros (Rs. 38,785 approx.) and HONOR 20 Pro is priced at 599 Euros (Rs. 46,550 approx.). Both will be available across Europe and Asia soon. The company has already announced that the HONOR 20 series India launch will be on June 11.
