After trials earlier in March this year, Netflix mobile plan was officially launched in India today. This is a mobile-only plan that costs Rs. 199 per month. The company says it ‘Made for India’ as here most of its users stream the content on their mobile devices.
Netflix also aims to take on its rivals such as Prime Video and Hotstar in India, with its mobile plan. This is the fourth plan of the streaming giant in India.
The company earlier offered three plans including basic, standard and premium which are priced at Rs 499, Rs 649 and Rs 799 respectively.
The new mobile plan will allow users to watch content in standard definition (480p) on one smartphone or tablet at a time. Also, they cannot cast or mirror the content to the TV with this plan.
How to sign up for Netflix mobile plan
First of all, download the Netflix app or visit the website netflix.com. Select the mobile plan for Rs. 199/month (It will go live soon). If you are a new member, you can try the first month for free. You will still have to add your account details to enjoy the free month.
Netflix is investing aggressively in Indian films and series across all genres including much-popular hits like Sacred Games. As per the company, 13 new films and 9 new original series are already in the process.
The company started testing the mobile-only subscription plan in a few countries including. According to the company, users in India watch more on their mobiles than anywhere else in the world. They are also amongst the highest downloaders of content globally.
