Redmi 8A Dual Launched in India Starting at Rs. 6,499: Full Specs, Availability

Xiaomi’s Redmi brand launched the Redmi 8A Dual smartphone in India today. The company’s latest budget phone is the successor to last year’s Redmi 8A and comes with almost similar specs except for the dual camera and design. Other features like a 6.22-inch HD+ Dot Notch display, Snapdragon 439 processor, 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and Android Pie with MIUI 10 are still the same as the Redmi 8A. However, the new Redmi 8A Dual comes with a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera and a new Aura X Grip design compared to Aura wave grip design in the predecessor.

Redmi 8A Dual Full Specs

The new Redmi 8A Dual sports a 6.22-inch HD+(1520 × 720 pixels) 19:9 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone comes with a splash-resistant P2i coating.

The phone is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 439 processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It is paired with up to 3GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage. The storage is expandable up to 512GB. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10.

The dual-camera setup at the back has a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture. There is an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner but comes with a face unlock feature.


Connectivity features on the phone include triple card slots, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with VoWiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support but comes with only 10W charger in the box.

Dimensions of the phone are 156.48×75.41×9.4mm and its weight is 188g. The handset comes in Midnight Grey, Sea Blue, and Sky White colors.

Price, Availability

Redmi 8A Dual price in India starts at Rs. 6,499 for the 2GB+32GB version and the 3GB+32GB version is priced at Rs. 6,999. The device will be available via Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting from February 18. It will soon be available via major offline stores also.
