Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi launched two new smartphones Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max in India today. These smartphones come as a successor to last year’s Redmi Note 8 series. The key features of these phones include 6.67-inch Full HD+ LCD screen, glass back, both with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, the latest Snapdragon 720G processor, and a 5020mAh battery.

These smartphones are different only in terms of camera and fast charging. The Redmi Note 9 Pro comes a 48MP primary rear camera with Samsung GM2 Sensor, while the Note 9 Pro Max features a 64MP camera with Samsung GW1 sensor. Also, the Note 9 Pro Max sports a 32MP front camera while the Note 9 Pro has a 16MP selfie camera. The Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with 18W fast charging and the Pro Max comes with 33W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max sport a 6.67-inch Full HD+(2400 × 1080 pixels) DotNotch LCD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. These come with splash-proof P2i coating. The smartphones run the latest MIUI 11 based on Android 10.

The devices are powered by the latest Snapdragon 720G 8nm processor with Adreno 618 GPU. These pack 4GB, 6GB or 8GB LPPDDR4x RAM with 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with microSD.

These pack a quad camera setup at the back. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor with f/1.89 aperture and Note 9 Pro has a 48MP Samsung GM2 sensor with f/1.79 aperture. Other cameras in the setup include an 8MP 120° ultra-wide angle lens, a 5MP 2cm macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The cameras can record 4k 30 fps videos and also support EIS.

There is a 32MP front camera on Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and a 16MP front camera on Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Connectivity features on the phones are Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO, VoWiFi, Bluetooth 5, GPS, NavIC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C.

The phones are powered by a 5,020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support in Note 9 Pro and 33W fast charging support in Note 9 Pro Max. The 33W fast charger comes inside the box and it can charge Note 9 Pro Max to 50% in under 30 minutes.

Dimensions of these handsets are 165.7×76.6×8.8mm and their weight is 209g. The smartphones come in Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue and Glacier White colors.

Price & Availability

The Redmi Note 9 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB+64GB version and goes up to Rs. 15,999 for the 6GB+128GB version. The phone will be available via Amazon, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting from March 17.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max price in India starts at Rs. 14,999 for the 6GB+64GB version and its 6GB+128GB version costs Rs. 16,999. The 8GB+128GB version of the phone is priced at Rs. 18,999. This phone will be available starting from March 25.
