4 Reasons To Buy and 2 Reasons Not To Buy POCO M2 Pro

POCO introduced a new M series of its smartphones by launching POCO M2 Pro in India today. The company’s latest mid-range phone is just a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro with a very few changes. If you are confused in which one to buy, here we’ll tell you reasons to buy POCO M2 Pro.

To be noted just like Note 9 Pro, it also has a 6.67-inch Full HD+ LCD screen, Snapdragon 720G SoC, 48MP quad-camera, 16MP selfie camera, and a 5000mAh battery. However, it comes with 33W fast charging instead of an 18W fast charger in Redmi Note 9 Pro.

POCO M2 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB+64GB version and goes up to Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB+128GB version. To remind you, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is also available at Rs. 13,999.

So, why you should or shouldn’t buy the new POCO M2 Pro, let’s find out!

Reasons To Buy POCO M2 Pro

New Looks

The new POCO M2 Pro comes with a two-tone glass back with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It comes in Blue, Green, and Greener, and Two Shades of Black colors. Just like RN 9 Pro, M2 Pro also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Hardware (SD 720G, Faster RAM & Storage)

The phone is powered by the latest octa-core Snapdragon 720G 8nm processor, which has 2x 2.3GHz Kryo 465 A76 CPUs and 6x 1.8GHz Kryo 465 A55 CPUs, with Adreno 618 GPU.

Further, it packs up to 6GB LPPDDR4x RAM with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with microSD.

With this hardware, you will face no problem in multitasking. Also, you can play PUBG Moblile with the highest settings and you will not feel any lag or whatsoever.

MIUI For POCO (No Ads)

A very good reason, you should go for POCO M2 Pro, instead of Redmi Note 9 Pro, is its UI. The phone comes with Android 10 with MIUI 11 for POCO on top.  Because of POCO launcher in the UI, you get less bloatware, no ads and its a clean stock-like interface.

Fast Charger

The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. However, unlike Redmi Note 9 Pro, it comes with 33W fast charging support that can charge it up to 50% in less than 30 minutes. Notably, the phone comes with a fast charger in the box.

Other Bonus Reasons

The quad-camera setup on the phone is a bonus for sure. It has a 48MP Samsung GW2 sensor, an 8MP 119° ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP 2cm macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. It has a 16MP selfie camera. You can check out some camera samples below to get an idea, how the camera performs well in most of the conditions.

The phone also comes with all the necessary connectivity options including 3.5mm audio jack and dedicated dual SIM and microSD card slots.

Reasons Not to Buy POCO M2 Pro

Low Brightness Display

Despite the phone has a big 6.67-inch Full HD+(2400 × 1080 pixels) 20:9 LCD DotDisplay with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, its brightness levels are not that satisfactory.

In our testing, we fond out that POCO M2 Pro has 383LUX brightness, which is very low.

When we were using it indoor the content looked well, but we did face a little difficulty in outdoors.

Feels Heavy

The POCO M2 Pro weighs 209g, which makes it quite heavy. It feels a little uncomfortable while you’re holding it with just one hand.

Wrapping Up

So, you see this is just a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro, but with two good things- fast charger and ad-free UI. The new two-tone design is just icing on the cake. So, if you’ve been planning to buy a new phone under Rs. 15,000, here is another good option for you. POCO M2 Pro will be available via Flipkart starting from July 14.
