Apart from messages, people usually interact with others on Facebook through comments. However, at times, you may not want to allow certain people to reply to your comments, be it to prevent trolls or unnecessary conversations. Now, while the platform doesn’t give a dedicated option for the same, there are a few workarounds that can help you stop someone from replying to your comments on Facebook. Read on.
Stop Someone from Replying to Your Comments on Facebook
On Your Post
Preventing someone from replying to your comments on your own Facebook post is quite easy. You can either hide your post from the other party or hide their comment altogether.
To hide your post from someone:
- Head to your post on Facebook.
- Tap the three dots on the top right and click on Edit Privacy.
- Then, tap Friends except and select people who you want to hide your post from.
That’s it. The selected people will not be able to see your post and thereby won’t be able to comment or reply to your comments on it.
To hide someone’s comment or reply on your post:
The other option is to hide the other person’s comment. Once you do so, the comment will only be visible to the other party and people on their friend list. It will be hidden from the rest of your audience.
- Go to the comments section on your Facebook post.
- Long-press on the comment.
- Tap Hide Comment.
The comment will now be hidden. You can unhide it by repeating the process and choosing the Unhide option.
On Other Posts
Stopping others from replying to your comments on someone else’s post is a tricky part, as the functionality to disable replies is not currently available on Facebook.
All you can do is either ask the post author to delete the comment or block the other person altogether. Once you block the person, he won’t be able to see or reply to your comments, be it on posts from pages or in groups.
To block someone on Facebook, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Blocking > Add to Block List and select the people you want to block on the platform.
