If you’re a user, content creator or an influencer who is facing issues with links such as Telegram on Instagram (DMs), you’re in for luck. While the popular social media platform (for obvious reasons) wants users to stay and use the app more often, here’s how you can fix this issue.
Why are ‘Links’ in Instagram DM not opening?
Often, in or under Instagram reels, you find a creator mentioning you to do to get links for tools or tips, etc., but often Instagram protocols disapprove of such links, citing security reasons. One such issue is with the telegram shorten links starting with t.me. But the question is, what are its workarounds.
How to fix Link not opening in Instagram DM
While Instagram has a policy regarding suspicious links and prevents users from directly opening any third-party application, there are a few ways to open them below.
Method 1 – Using ‘Open in Chrome’ option
1. Open the link which was not responsive. Here, go to the top right three-dots option and select Open in Chrome.
2. Next, the link will be redirected directly to Telegram.
Method 2 – Configuring links to open in ‘External browser’
1. If you don’t want to keep repeating to use the above method, you can try another method. Head over to the hamburger menu in your profile.
2. Next, scroll down to App website permissions> Browser settings.
3. Then, toggle the Open in external browser option, and that’s it. You’re set to go!
4. Using this, anytime you open a link will be redirected to the app through Chrome.
Method 3 – Rename link to Telegram.me
For most t.me links, Instagram prohibits it to open up as we had seen earlier. However, if you replace the initial ‘t’ in ‘t.me___’ link with “Telegram,” then Instagram directly open up in the Telegram app.
I replaced the “https://t.me/gtutech” with “https://telegram.me/gtutech” and this happened.
