While the phone is a selfie-centric device, it performs well in other areas too. We tested it and found out 5 things we like about the Oppo F5.

Things we like about the Oppo F5

Here is a quick overview of the best features of the Oppo F5.

Cameras

Being a selfie-centric smartphone, the Oppo F5 packs good optics. You get a 16MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. For the front-facing camera, Oppo has fitted a 20MP unit f/2.0 aperture.

The USP of the front camera is that it is backed by AI beauty recognition. This means your phone enhances your selfies using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Oppo has achieved this using the MediaTek Helio P23 chipset, which has good imaging capabilities.

Usage

With a 6-inch full HD+ LTPS-TFT panel, the Oppo F5 is a treat for multimedia usage. What’s good here is the single-handed-usability of the phone. The company has managed to tone down the bezels on all four sides and provided the device with an 18:9 aspect ratio display.

Thanks to its ergonomic design, the Oppo F5 is easy to grip and use with a single hand, despite the large screen. While the phone is not metal build, the plastic build is also packed in a solid and slim way. It feels sleek in your pocket as well as while using it.

Hardware

Oppo decided to go with a MediaTek Helio P23 processor coupled with Mali G71 MP2 GPU. With this processor, the Oppo F5 gets the highest clock speed of 2.3GHz. It also amalgamates the best of MediaTek technologies; Imagiq and Corepilot.

Imagiq

MediaTek’s Imagiq 2.0 system incorporates advanced camera features. It has a 13+13MP dual camera with a color+color or color+mono sensors, matched with standard or wide+tele lenses.

Corepilot

Its eight ARM Cortex-A53 processors operate up to an incredible 2.3GHz (typical) / 2.5GHz (single-core scenario). The latest LPDDR4x memory (up to 6GB) is used here, giving users the best combination of huge memory bandwidth with the best possible power efficiency.

In terms of memory, the processor is complemented by two variants. You can buy the Oppo F5 with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage or 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot which lets you expand storage up to 256GB. So in terms of hardware, there are no compromises on the phone.

Battery Capacity

Oppo F5 back

In our usage, the Oppo F5 lasted a full day of moderate usage with ease. The phone is packing a 3,200mAh non-removable battery. While there could be a bigger capacity battery in the device, a 3,200mAh battery is fairly adequate for most users.

Another aspect that is worth noting is that while the phone comes with a 3,200mAh battery, it is still fairly thin at 7.5mm.

Face Unlock

Face Unlock is all the rage these days, and Oppo has made sure to include it in the F5. All you have to do to unlock the Oppo F5 is hold the device in front of your face, making it a quick and efficient process. In practise, too, we found face unlock to be fast enough.

Conclusion

The Oppo F5 ticks most boxes in terms of hardware and software features. The MediaTek-powered smartphone also features almost all the sensors expected in an upper mid-range smartphone, offering you a complete experience. You can buy the Oppo F5 from Flipkart at a starting price of Rs. 19,990.
