Honor 5x Unboxing

Honor 5x Comes packed inside an aqua blue coloured rectangular box. It looks similar to the box in which Honor usually likes packing its phones. You can see Honor branding on top and nothing else on top. The box doesn’t have any images or graphics to attract the users; it sticks to simplistic design and material.

Once you break the seal and get inside the box, you’ll find the handset lying on top and right below the phone there is the kit which has documentations and SIM ejection tool. The charger and USB cable are kept under the kit, and surprisingly there are no headsets inside the box.

Honor 5x Physical Overview

Honor 5x is purely made up metal and glass with a small amount of plastic used on the top and bottom of the back, Honor puts them for better network reception on its smartphones. Honor 5x comes with a 5.5 inch display on the front, and a metallic back with brushed metal finish. Sides are also protected with a metal strip with chamfered edges. The overall look and feel of the Honor 5x is quite premium and solid. Single handed usage is not easy on 5.5 inch phones; same is in the case of Honor 5x. The side bezels are very thin but the forehead and chin look a little broad.

Honor 5x Gaming Performance

I played two games the usual Modern Combat 5 and the Dead Trigger 2 on the Honor 5x. Both these games got installed on the internal storage. Dead Trigger 2 was playable in high visual quality mode. Modern Combat 5 played better in auto mode when we switched to High graphics mode, we noticed a minor lag. The overall gaming experience on this phone was good, It can handle games with medium level graphics with an ease. Games like Nova 3 may feel a bit sluggish in the game-play.

Note: – The gaming tests were done under an atmospheric temperature of 21 degree Celsius.

The Honor 5x did not heat up much during casual usage and regular game-play. It got warm but it was not something that is tough to hold.

Honor 5x Performance and Benchmark Scores

Unfortunately, the performance of the Honor 5x is not up to the standard. We would not say it’s bad, in fact it is better than many of its competitors but still lacks in some areas. The Cortex A53s alone are not what’s needed to have a buttery Android experience. The phone worked smooth in many cases but in some transitions like switching screens or opening closing of apps I noticed some frame drops multiple times.

The benchmark scores of the Honor 5x are:

Verdict

At INR 12,999 Honor 5x brings a premium metal build a sharp 5.5 inch display, a fingerprint sensor and a lot more at such low price. The hardware configurations and camera are also decent for the price it comes for. There are some issues with the software which lead to sluggish performance in some cases but again if you look at the affordability, this phone is still worth picking up.
