HTC One M8 Eye Quick Review, Price and Comparison

It has been a great day for HTC in India as the vendor announced a slew of its devices including the One M8 Eye smartphone that got listed for the Chinese market earlier this month. The handset is priced at Rs 38,990 and is will be available from today. The device comes with identical specifications as the flagship model, One M8 expect for a few notable changes in the photography department. Here is a quick review on the HTC One M8 Eye to analyze its capabilities.

Camera and Internal Storage

HTC has given the One M8 Eye smartphone a 13 MP primary camera instead of the UltraPixel camera. However, the device retains the Duo Camera setup at its back for depth sensing. This snapper comes with the HTC Eye Experience suite of imaging software and camera centric applications that were unveiled with the Desire Eye. Moreover, there is auto focus, dual LED flash, HDR, panorama, FHD video recording and other aspects to enhance the photography experience. The handset also packs in a 5 MP front facer that facilitates in video conferencing and in clicking self portrait shots.

The Eye Experience software also comes with features including Auto and Voice Selfie to click a selfie using voice commands, improved group video calls for better video chatting experience and aspects such as Face Tracking, Screen Share, Crop Me In, Split Capture, Face Fusion, Live Makeup and Photo Booth.

The internal storage is 16 GB and it can be further expanded to 128 GB using a micro SD card. This storage capacity is definitely on par with that of the other high end models in the market leaving us with no issues in this regard.


Processor and Battery

The processor used in the HTC smartphone is a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC that is aided by 2 GB of RAM for enhanced multi-tasking capabilities and Adreno 330 graphics unit for smooth graphic rendering. The chipset is used by several other premium smartphones and is acclaimed for its power packed performance.

Battery capacity is 2,600 mAh and it is rated to render up to 24 hours of talk time and 309 hours of standby time respectively that sounds pretty decent for a smartphone with camera centric aspects.

Display and Features

There is a 5 inch Super LCD 3 display on the One M8 Eye with FHD 1080p resolution that translates to a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. This screen is protected with the scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection as well.

Fueled by Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system topped with Sense 6.0 UI, the smartphone comes with dual front facing BoomSound speakers like the other HTC devices. Also, there are connectivity aspects such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS and Infrared LED to double as remote control.
