Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

iPhone 5S is exactly same as iPhone 5 in terms of build quality, form factor and weight as well. It feels great with aluminium back cover which has matte finish and on the front, it has glass with corning gorilla glass protection. The design of the iPhone 5S remains the same with no changes compared to the previous generation, but still its feels great. The form factor of this phone is great as it feels to comfortable with appropriate width which makes is easy to hold in one hand with a weight of only 130 grams it much lighter then any other top segment phones from other brands.

Camera Performance

The rear camera is 8 MP with auto focus and tap to focus is also supported. Its one of most fastest camera in terms of auto focus and shutter speed and the photo quality is great in day light and in low light its decent and much better then its galaxy competitors. It has 1.2 MP fixed focus camera which can record videos at 720p and also has auto focus and face detection supported.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has IPS LCD LED backlit display with resolution of 640 x 1136 which gives a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch which is quite decent for display of this size, it has pretty good viewing angles as well. The in built memory of around 16Gb out of which around 14Gb approx. is available to the user, but you have no support for memory storage expansion so make sure that you select the right storage model which has storage which is sufficient as per your preferences. It has 1560 mAh battery which is good and can give you one day of battery backup, but make sure that you disable some extra features in new iOS to achieve this, follow the link to know more how.

Software, Finger Print Sensor and Gaming

The software UI running on this device might look different as it runs the latest version of iOS 7.0.4 available till date and you really don’t need to worry about the future updates as they come to device much faster than any other device. The finger print sensor which is inside the home button on this device is really good and works well, you can unlock the phone with a finger touch and can also use it to unlock the phone, however we would love to see some apps which take more advantage of the finger print sensor. You can play any game on this device without any issues, we played Frontline Commando D Day and other games like it does run smoothly as well.

Sound, Video and Navigation

The sound of device is loud enough and clear as well, it can play HD videos as well although the format of the videos which can be played are limited. You can use GPS navigation on this device without any problem as it does play that role pretty good as it did during our review, we used for navigation and it was very useful for this purpose. It also have compass sensor to provide you accurate navigation info you need.

What We Liked

  • Great Build Quality
  • Nice Form Factor

What We Did Not Liked

  • Small display
  • Average battery life – but this can be fixed.

Conclusion and Price

iPhone 5S is no doubt the latest iPhone yet with unique finger print sensor and 64 bit processor but both of these are not good enough reasons for an iPhone 5 user but for those who use iPhone 4 or earlier, the new iPhone 5S is worth the upgrade they were looking for, but one thing which may stop people to buy it, could be the high price of around Rs. 49450 INR which is starting price for 16GB model is really steep price for many out there. But again this may not create any hurdle for blind apple fanboys and lovers.
