MTS Blaze 5.0 Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Telecom service provider MTS announced the launch of a new smartphone dubbed MTS Blaze 5.0 earlier this week for a price of Rs 10,999. The handset is pretty impressive for its pricing as there decent specifications that we expect from any budget smartphone. Now, here is a quick review of the MTS Blaze 5.0 to analyze its capabilities.

Camera and Internal Storage

MTS has given the handset an 8 MP primary camera that is supplemented with LED flash in order to render good quality while capturing images and videos even under low lighting. Also, there is a VGA front-facing snapper that will help in video calling and for clicking selfies. Though the camera appears to be impressive, it lacks auto focus and other camera centric features that are seen in the smartphones these days.

When it comes to the storage capacity, the handset includes a low 4 GB of internal storage space that can be further extended up to 32 GB by means of a micro SD card. Of course, 4 GB haters will not like this smartphone and it would have been great if the vendor has incorporated at least 8 GB of storage onboard.

Processor and Battery

The MTS Blaze 5.0 is stuffed with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor that is teamed up with 1 GB of RAM that sweetens the deal with decent mutli-tasking amities. These hardware specs are pretty common among the smartphones that are priced in the sub Rs 10,000 price range. Moreover, this smartphone will definitely be able to handle smooth application handling without any clutter.

The battery unit in the MTS smartphone is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery that should be sufficient to pump a decent backup to the handset helping it to last for hours together under moderate usage.

Display and Features

The display unit in the MTS Blaze 5.0 is a 5 inch IPS panel that carries a WVGA screen resolution of 480×800 pixels. While the resolution of the handset is average, it has to be noted that we cannot expect higher resolutions from smartphones that are priced low. But, there are HD 720p phones in the sub Rs 10,000 range and this is one of the aspects where MTS lags behind.

On the software front, the handset runs on the dated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system with bleak chances of an update. Interestingly, it comes with an attractive data plan that offers 100 GB of free bundled data that is valid for a year. Furthermore, there are pre-installed features including on-call support, Live TV, Piano Lock and more. s

Comparison

The MTS Blaze 5.0 smartphone will compete with the likes of other similar offerings such as Spice Mi-535 Stellar Pinnacle Pro, Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114, Karbonn S2 Titanium and XOLO Q1000 Opus.

Price and Conclusion

The MTS Blaze 5.0 is an average smartphone that is packed with moderate specifications. The handset appears to be have compromised on certain aspects such as display, camera and outdated platform. While the pricing of the handset stands at Rs 10,999, it appears to be too expensive for its price tag. There are several other smartphones that are even lesser than the Blaze 5.0 with better specifications and features.
