Samsung has partially ended the rumors surrounding its Galaxy A lineup of smartphones with the launch of the  and Galaxy A3. However, the Galaxy A7 is yet to go official and it is claimed to be the high end model of the trio. Here is a quick review on the Samsung Galaxy A3 to get to know the capabilities of the device.

Camera and Internal Storage

The Galaxy A3 boasts of an 8 MP primary camera onboard that is teamed up with LED Flash for better low light performance and FHD 1080p video recording abilities. The front facing 5 MP shooter is also suitable for good quality selfies.

Internal storage is 16 GB as in the Galaxy A5 and it can be further expanded by another 64 GB using a micro SD card. On the whole, this capacity should suffice for the users to store all the necessary content.

Processor and Battery

The Galaxy A3 makes use of a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor as in its bigger kin, however the difference is that this processor is aided by 1 GB of RAM in the Galaxy A3 instead of 2 GB of RAM that is more efficient. This combination should be capable of rendering a moderate performance expected from a mid-ranger undoubtedly.

Battery capacity is 1,900 mAh that appears to be too low for a mid-ranger, but the smartphone comes with the Ultra Power Saving Mode feature that can enhance the backup.

Display and Features

The Galaxy A3 comes fitted with a 4.5 inch qHD Super AMOLED display carrying a resolution of 960×540 pixels. We expect the panel to be more suitable for those who want no compromise on basic tasks such as watching videos, playing games and browsing internet among others.

The Galaxy A3 is based on Android 4.4 Kitkat and comes with connectivity such as 4G LTE/ 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Like the A5, this one also comes with Private Mode, Multi-Screen and adjustable audio.

Comparison

The Galaxy A3 would enter a direct rivalry with the other smartphones such as Huawei Honor 6, Oppo R5, Gionee Elife S5.5, Lenovo Vibe X2 and others.

What we Like

  • Metallic build

What we Dislike

  • Not a long lasting battery

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A3 comes with the right set of specifications being a mid-ranger, but the handset appears to have some shortcomings such as a not so good battery and a high resolution screen. The device anyways takes the advantage of coming with a metallic unibody design that makes the device thin. We will get to know more about the device’s performance once we get our hands on.
