Spice Stellar 451 3G Quick Review, Price and Comparison

On Monday, Spice announced the launch of two new Android smartphones in the entry-level market segment. These handsets are made available on the firm’s e-commerce portal Saholic as well. Of the duo, the Spice Stellar 451 3G is priced at Rs 5,499 and it could be a direct competitor for smartphones that are available in this price bracket. Here is a quick review on the Spice Stellar 451 3G.

Camera and Internal Storage

The device sports a 3.2 MP primary camera at its rear that is clubbed with LED flash to capture good snaps even in low-light conditions. Also, there is a 2 MP front-facing selfie snapper that should suffice for decent video conferencing and for good looking self portrait shots. This basic camera set is acceptable considering the pricing of the handset and it will be suitable for first time smartphone users looking for entry-level devices.

The device comes with an inbuilt storage of 4 GB, which is adequate for the price tag this Spice Stellar 451 3G is offered at. There is also a memory card slot that allows the users to expand the storage using a micro SD card by another 32 GB.

Processor and Battery

The Stellar 451 3G comes with a 1.3 GHz quad core processor aided by 512 MB of RAM.  While this configuration is a bit low for multitasking the device is definitely not suitable for those users who prefer intense gaming. It is yet to be clear if the user interface is smooth without any lag and we will get to know the same on our hands-on.

A 1,450 mAh battery is available in the device to fulfill the power requirements of the smartphone. This backup is believed to last for few hours under basic usage though not for a day.

Display and Features

The Spice Stellar 451 3G features a 4.5 inch IPS display with a FWVGA resolution of 854×480 pixels, giving it a pixel density of around 217 ppi that is average. Though it is an IPS panel we do not expect exceptional viewing angles from such a low-end device.

Like most of the other latest entry-level smartphones, this Spice phone also runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Otherwise, it packs standard connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Comparison

The Spice Stellar 451 3G will be a direct competitor to Nokia Lumia 630, Moto E, Micromax Canvas Engage A091 and Karbonn Titanium S99.

Price and Conclusion

The Spice Stellar 451 3G has been launched for a price of Rs 5,499. With this pricing and specifications, the Spice offering is one of the few quad-core smartphones based on the Android KitKat platform to cost as low as most of the others are dual-core handsets. However, being an entry-level smartphone the device lags behind in some aspects such as a better battery backup and low RAM capacity.
