Airtel VoLTE

Airtel VoLTE services are now live in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the leading telecom provider announced today. Airtel had been testing its VoLTE services for some time in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana telecom circle, and the feature is now live for its 4G customers today.

With Airtel VoLTE, the telco is promising seamless connectivity and high quality voice calls, thanks to the advanced technology. In cases where Airtel VoLTE does not work due to lack of 4G coverage, the calls will fall back on 3G or even 2G automatically, allowing customers to continue with their calls seamlessly.

VoLTE calling was first popularised in India by Reliance Jio last year, with the service provider offering services over its 4G-only network. Airtel had started rolling out its own VoLTE services over the last few of months, with the service now live in Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

How to enable Airtel VoLTE services

To enjoy Airtel VoLTE services, you will have to have a 4G SIM card and a supported device. Airtel also recommends its users to insert the 4G SIM card in the SIM1 slot in case of dual SIM devices, with the Network Mode set to “4G/3G/2G” or “Prefer 4G LTE”, as the case may be.

While there are a lot of 4G VoLTE compatible smartphones in the market right now, not all of them will work with Airtel VoLTE right away. Airtel says that smartphone companies will have to update their phones to support Airtel VoLTE.
