Corning brings Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass to CES 2014

Corning is well known for its extra hard touch screen glass protection extremely resistant to abuse. The company has now presented an Anti microbial glass at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. The New Gorilla glass comes with incorporates ionic silver in the glass to prevent growth of bacteria, algae and other micro organisms.

Corning also stated that the new glass is being tested by a number of manufacturers and it is well equipped to begin the mass production of Anti Microbial glass. The glass will last for the lifetime of the device and will constatntly fight the microbes accumulating on the surface of the device. There have been reports about Corning working on Anti microbial glass for a long time now. The Sapphire glass which is gaining popularity is being seen as a future replacement for Corning gorilla glass by companies like Apple, which provides sapphire glass on touch ID and rear lens. To ensure its survival it is mandatory for corning to swiftly evolve its glass technology and this is a step in the right direction.
