Honor 9 Lite launched with four cameras, 18:9 display: Full specs, price and more

Chinese smartphone maker Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched the Honor 9 Lite smartphone in the Chinese market. The device comes in 3 variants starting at budget prices with up to mid-range pricing.

The device is the latest in a line of the recent Huawei and Honor smartphone launches. It comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio and runs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. At an affordable price, the Honor 9 Lite features dual cameras at the front as well as the back. Here are the complete specifications of Huawei’s latest offering.

Starting with the display, Huawei sub-brand Honor is now releasing a new lineup of 18:9 phones. The Honor 9 Lite too, comes with a 5.65-inch full HD+ (1080x2160p) IPS-LCD panel with 18:9 aspect ratio. It has a pixel density of 428ppi.

Coming to the optics, the Honor 9 Lite comes with 4 cameras bearing same specifications at the front as well as the back. It sports a 13MP primary RGB camera accompanied by a 2MP secondary monochrome camera. The rear cameras get PDAF and LED flash for improved focusing and low-light performance.

In terms of hardware, the Honor 9 Lite is backed by Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor, clocked at 2.36GHz. This processor is complemented by 3 memory and storage variants i.e. 3GB/32GB, 4GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB. There is also a microSD card which allows expansion up to 256GB.

Talking about the software, Honor is leaving no stone unturned as they offer the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update out-of-the-box. This phone too comes with the latest EMUI 8.0 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. EMUI is an adaptive user interface that you’ll find on all Honor smartphones.

Packing a 3,000 mAh battery, the Honor 9 Lite is a dual SIM 4G VoLTE smartphone. Standard connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm earphone jack, and a microUSB port.

Pricing and Availability

The Honor 9 Lite is priced at CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 11,700) for the 3GB/32GB model. The 4GB RAM, 32GB variant is available for CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,600) while the top 4GB/64GB variant goes for CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 17,500).

Huawei is expected to make the phone available in 14 countries other than China. India, Russia, and the UK are among the countries where the device may be launched soon.
