Lenovo K5 Note, Lenovo A5 announced with 18:9 display, Android Oreo

Lenovo has introduced two new budget phones dubbed as the Lenovo K5 Note and Lenovo A5 in China. Both the phones have HD+ displays with 18:9 aspect ratio, run on Android 8.1 Oreo and feature a fingerprint sensor, dedicated dual SIM, and microSD slots. The K5 Note has a metal back, and the A5 just has a metal-like finish.

The K5 Note has dual rear cameras, while the A5 comes with a single rear camera. Since both the latest affordable phones from Lenovo, K5 Note and A5 offer decent specs coupled with a premium-looking design, it is obvious that they will be competing in the budget segment against smartphones from the likes of Xiaomi and Motorola.

Lenovo K5 Note Specifications

Starting with the Lenovo K5 Note, it sports a 6-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It packs 3GB RAM with 32GB storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In terms of camera, it sports a dual camera setup with a 16MP primary rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, and a secondary 2MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture. There is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with ZUI 3.9 on top and it is upgradable to Android P as well. The dual SIM phone has a dedicated microSD slot. Other connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS. The phone packs a 3,760mAh battery.

It sports a back mounted fingerprint sensor. Dimensions of the phone are 158.3 × 76.7 × 8.5mm and its weighs 176 grams.

Lenovo A5 Specifications

The Lenovo A5 sports a 5.45-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It sports a back-mounted fingerprint sensor. Dimensions of the phone are 158.3 × 76.7 × 8.5mm and its weight is 176 grams.

It is powered by a 1.5GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT6739 processor with PowerVR Rogue GE8100 GPU. Memory wise, it packs 3GB RAM with 16GB or 32GB storage, which is expandable up to 256GB with a dedicated microSD card slot. The dual SIM phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with ZUI 3.9 Lite.

Camera wise, it sports a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture. There is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

Price and Availability

The Lenovo K5 Note is priced at 799 yuan (Rs. 8,390 approx.) for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version and the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant costs 999 yuan (Rs. 10,490 approx.). It comes in Black, Gold and Blue colors.

The Lenovo A5 starts at 599 yuan (Rs. 6,290 approx.) for the 16GB storage version. It comes in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors. The phones are currently available in China and there is no word on India availability yet.
