LG today took the veil off their upcoming tablet – the G Pad 8.3. The device looks like an elder sibling to the G2 in terms of design, and comes with a slightly weaker processor when compared to the G2 in the form of the Snapdragon 600. LG will be showcasing this new device at the IFA 2013 which will take place at Berlin this week.
The G Pad 8.3, as the name suggests, will come with an 8.3 inch screen packing a WUXGA resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, returning a decent pixel density of 273 PPI. As mentioned previously, the processing department will be taken care of by the Snapdragon 600 chipset that houses 4 cores, all of which will be clocked at 1.7 GHz. The device will have RAM plentiful in the form of a 2GB LPDDR2 chip.
On the storage front, the G Pad 8.3 will come with 16GB of on-board memory. The device’s imaging department will be handled by a 5MP rear unit combined with a 1.3MP front shooter.
All this will be powered by a 4600mAh battery, which should take you through about 5-6 hours of screen on time, which doesn’t sound bad at all. The G Pad 8.3 would be running Android v4.2.2.
The dimensions of this device are 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3mm, and it weighs 338g.
There’s not word on pricing yet, so stay tuned for more. LG plans to launch the device market by market, and by Q4 2013, the device should be available in most Asian markets.
The G Pad 8.3 will be available in two basic colours – Black and White.
