OnePlus has published another weekly progress report on India has assured OnePlus fans that they have made ‘tremendous progress’ this past week in bringing OnePlus One to India. The strategy will involve notorious invite system. If you just let out a little gasp in exasperation, hearing the much dreaded Invite System – don’t get disappointed just yet.
“As this is our first experience with the Indian market, we didn’t want to be too ambitious. We are more concerned with offering outstanding service and experiences for users than getting the One in as many hands as possible. It will take us some time to learn and the invites are a great way for us to do that.” said Carl at OnePlus Forums
OnePlus perhaps understands that this won’t be well received, and thus Carl assures us that Invites won’t be scarce or difficult to get by. Once OnePlus understands the dynamics of Indian market, they will eliminate the Invite System.
India specific Invites to buy OnePlus One will be available on social media forums and forums like always, and users will perhaps have to participate in contests and other promotional stuff to win an Invite.
Apart from the invite system, OnePlus is also working with a local partner to device an easier way to get OnePlus to the masses. We were expecting OnePlus to start with the pre-order system which it recently introduced for other 16 markets it’s been active in. The pre-order system starts today (open for an hour) and everyone can buy without an Invite, but you can’t directly rout it to India.
