Reliance Jio is the fastest 4G download network in the month of June as per TRAI report. Jio continued to be at the top for the sixth consecutive time since January. However, all 4G networks in the country suffered a decline in download speeds compared to previous month.
As per TRAI’s My Speed portal, Jio’s average download speed in June was 18.809 Mbps. Vodafone is the second in the chart with an average download speed of 12.29 Mbps, followed by Idea Cellular which recorded 11.68 Mbps of average speed. Bharti Airtel was the last with at 8.23 Mbps.
Reliance Jio was on top with an average download speed of 19.123 Mbps in May – the highest it has ever recorded. Vodafone and Idea have exchanged places while Airtel retained its last position.
However, Idea Cellular remains the fastest when it comes to 4G upload speeds. Idea recorded an average of 7.49 Mbps in upload speed in June. Vodafone stood at second place with 7.04Mbps in June. Reliance Jio also retained its position at third place for the third time, with an average 4G upload speed 4.73Mbps. Airtel again remained on the fourth spot with 4.013Mbps.
Also in the 3G segment, Vodafone recorded the highest download speed of 5.65 Mbps in June. Idea Cellular was the second with 3G download speed of 3.59 Mbps, followed by Airtel with 3.37 Mbps.
After the launch of Reliance Jio in September last year, the 4G data speeds of all telecom operators has increased manifold. Reliance Jio is also planning to increase the speeds using a submarine cable system. Last week, the company announced the launch of the Asia-Africa-Europe submarine cable system.
All the telecom operators are also in an undefined fight to come on top after the introduction of free data and voice calling from Jio. Apart from Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea that are offering free data to the consumers, state-run BSNL also has come into the fight.
