Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Launched With Bigger Display, Battery and Upgraded S Pen: Price, Specs

Samsung announced its Galaxy Note9 flagship smartphone at the New York event yesterday. The new Galaxy Note series flagship comes with several upgraded features over its predecessor. The Galaxy Note 9 sports a bigger 6.4-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Display, a bigger 4000mAh battery which is the largest on a Samsung flagship device. Moreover, it comes with an improved S Pen stylus that has Bluetooth support.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Specifications

The Galaxy Note 9 sports a big 6.4-inch QHD+ (2960×1440 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity display with Gorilla Glass protection. The fingerprint sensor is now moved below the camera and it also has Iris scanner. The device is water resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes with the IP68 rating. It has a dedicated Bixby button and runs Android 8.1 Oreo.

Under the hood, it is powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC with Adreno 630 GPU in the US variant. While in other markets it will come with its own Octa-Core Exynos 9810 processor with Mali G72MP18 GPU. Memory wise, it comes in two variants- 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 512GB storage. The storage is expandable up to further 512GB.

In terms of camera, it has a 12MP primary rear camera with f/2.4-f/1.5 variable aperture, LED Flash, and 12MP secondary rear camera with f/2.4 aperture. It supports 4K recording and 960fps super slo-mo as well. There is an 8MP autofocus front camera with wide-angle lens and f/1.7 aperture.


For connectivity, it has Hybrid Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5 (LE up to 2Mbps), GPS with GLONASS, USB 3.1, and NFC support. The Note 9 comes with a 4000mAh battery with fast charging support both on wired and wireless charging.

It has AKG stereo speakers and also supports Dolby Atmos. The Note 9 has AR Emoji feature that uses machine learning to analyze more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model. Sensors onboard include Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Heart Rate Sensor, Proximity, RGB Light Sensor, Iris Scanner, and Pressure Sensor. Dimensions of the Galaxy Note 9 are 161.9 x 76.4 x 8.8mm and its weight is 201g.

Notably, the Note 9 comes with an improved S Pen stylus. The new S pen has Bluetooth support and has a button on its surface along with a clicker on the bottom that lets you take selfies, present slides, play/pause video, and more. The company also said that it would integrate the S Pen’s Bluetooth functionalities into their apps as well.

Price, Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Note9 is priced at $999.99 (Rs. 68,750 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant. While the 8GB RAM with 512GB version is priced at $1,249.99 (Rs. 85,940 approx.). The pre-orders start today, August 10 in the US and it will be available from August 24. The Galaxy Note 9 comes in Midnight Black, Lavender Purple, and Metallic Copper colors with matching S Pen, and Ocean Blue color with a Yellow S Pen.
