Samsung Galaxy S9 To Get The First Batch Of Snapdragon 845 Chipset

Samsung has reportedly reserved the first batch of Snapdragon 845 chipsets for the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+. The chipset which is the successor to the current flagship the Snapdragon 835 is expected to be unveiled later this year or early next year.

The news comes after Vietnamese website Techrum reported a post from Chinese tipster ‘I ice universe’. The post claims that the contract between both the companies was confirmed. It said that Samsung has signed the contract with Qualcomm to own the first batch of Snapdragon 845 processor for the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

The report further points out that if the rumor turns out to be true, then other flagship devices will not get this powerful processor before the Samsung flagship duo is released. So, the LG G7 which is expected to launch at CES or MWC next year, may not feature the Snapdragon 845, the report suggests.

This will not be the first time when the Samsung has teamed up with Qualcomm. It previously reached an agreement to acquire the first shipment of Snapdragon 835 CPUs for the Galaxy S8. So, the other had to wait for the flagship processor.

Snapdragon 845 is an unannounced chip from Qualcomm that is expected in 2018 and will be the flagship mobile processor for next year. However, it was inadvertently leaked when Qualcomm filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission against Apple back in July. It has disclosed some information about the upcoming Snapdragon 845 processor. Accordingly, this chip will be on 7nm process, contains 8 cores and Adreno 630 GPU.

Apart from this, it was also leaked on Chinese Weibo earlier. It has disclosed some information about the upcoming Snapdragon 845 processor. Accordingly, this chip will be on 7nm process, contains 8 cores and Adreno 630 GPU.

It is expected, similar to Galaxy S8, the Galaxy S9 and the S9+ with Snapdragon 845 will only be available in the US and China. And in all other markets, including Germany, India and the United Kingdom it is expected to come with Samsung’s next generation in-house CPU the Exynos 8900.
