Xiaomi Mi 5 Hands-On Video, Press Renders Leak Ahead of Launch

Xiaomi is all set to launch their new smartphone, titled the Mi 5 early next year. But as 2015 comes to an end, and with the going trend of leaks for a lot of devices in 2015, we have a hands-on video and press renders of the Xiaomi Mi 5, which boast a good device from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Mi 5 renders

The press renders that have surfaced today are well in accordance with the leaks that we had previously heard about the Xiaomi’s Mi 5. The display on the device is a curved display, which curves a bit on the two edges of the device. Along with the curved display on the device, we see a physical home button at the bottom of the phone, which according to the leaks previously suggest that it will host a powerful fingerprint scanner, probably the smallest one ever included in such a home button.

The phone has been displayed in 3 colours, black, pink and white. The black and pink colours appeared in the press renders, whereas the white colour appeared in the hands-on video. Here is the video for you to have a look.

Rumoured Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has had a lot of leaks and rumours and we have compiled a list of the specifications from all those leaks for you to know more about the device. The device will boast a 5.2inch QHD display, the Snapdragon 820 chipset, the Adreno 530 GPU along with 4GB of RAM and three storage variants, 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.

On the camera side of things, it is expected to feature a 20 MP primary camera and an 8 MP secondary camera. The device will come packed with a 3800 mAh battery and a NFC chip. The software/Android version that the device will probably feature is the MIUI 7, based on Android Lollipop. There has not been a good price leak yet, but a Chinese retailer website listed the Xiaomi Mi 5 to around USD 599, which will equal about INR 40,000. Let us wait for the actual device launch to know the pricing exactly.

Conclusion

The device leaks seem to match up with the hand-on video and the press renders that we have seen today. If all holds good, we will see a powerful successor to the Xiaomi Mi 4, but maybe at a higher price point. We are not yet sure about the price of the device and we should wait for Xiaomi to actually launch the device so we know more about pricing and availability. Xiaomi is expected to launch the device in early 2016, so the wait should not be long.
