Chinese upstart Xiaomi has just teased the arrival of the Xiaomi MIUI 9 here in India, along with a new selfie-centric phone. The Xiaomi MIUI is the customized UI for Xiaomi smartphones and the company has confirmed the release to be scheduled for November 2.

This means that Xiaomi users in India will start getting the MIUI 9 stable ROM from November 2. In a series of tweets, Xiaomi is hinting at some of the features of MIUI 9 with #LightningFast hashtag. While MIUI 9 update is in the buzz, Xiaomi is also gearing up to launch a selfie-centric smartphone here.

About Xiaomi MIUI 9

Xiaomi uses an optimized UI for their smartphones called MIUI. MIUI 9 is the latest upgrade to Xiaomi MIUI and is based on Android 7.0 Nougat for some devices. The upgrade brings many new features and optimizations your Xiaomi handset.

Among the key features of MIUI 9, you get quicker app startup. A more optimized app startup would help the older Xiaomi smartphones keep functioning smoothly updating to MIUI 9.

You also get Dynamic Research Allocation that allows the MIUI to prioritize the app that you’re currently using to make your experience smoother. This feature basically overrides the apps to prioritize them smartly.

Other than optimizations that run in the background, you also get some cool new features on the latest MIUI. This new update allows you to search images for “people, location, expression, events, documents, screenshots”. A smart app launcher is also there to help you launch any apps based on the screen content.

Xiaomi to go selfie-centric

Xiaomi is also teasing about a new device on Twitter. With the #YourBestSelfie, Xiaomi has made clear that this will be a device with a camera-centric approach. With premium build quality and value-for-money specifications, Xiaomi phones have always been more demanding for a camera boost.

With this new device, we expect Xiaomi to compete with the likes of Oppo and Vivo which have made a fortune in the Indian market based on camera-centric smartphones.
