Xiaomi today launched the Redmi 4 in India at an event in New Delhi. This is the successor of the Redmi 3S and 3S Prime. The device has been priced starting at Rs. 6,999 for the 2 GB RAM variant, the 3 GB RAM has been priced at Rs. 8,999 and the 4 GB variant has been priced at Rs. 10,999. The device will be available in Matte Black and Elegant Gold color options.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 skinned on top. The device will also come with a special Android 7.0 Nougat preview. Users will be able to switch between these two versions.

The device will come with a 5 inch HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display will come with a pixel density of ~294 PPI. The device comes with a 2.5D curved glass on the front.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is powered by an Octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clubbed with Adreno 505 GPU. The device will be available in 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants. The devices will come with 16 GB , 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage respectively. The storage on the device can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card.

Coming to the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus and dual LED flash. The camera comes with features such as Geo-tagging, touch focus, smile detection, HDR and panorama. On the front, the device sports a 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes with a 4,100 mAh battery with Fast battery charging. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Infrared Port, NFC, microUSB 2.0 and FM Radio. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
