Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is now rolling out the stable MIUI 9 update for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The announcement was made today via Twitter and the update is expected to be rolled out to all the users in the next 72 hours.
While the phone is already succeeded by the Redmi Note 4 and will be taken over by the Redmi Note 5 soon, it is still a good budget offering. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will continue to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow even after getting the MIUI 9 update. This news was tweeted by Rohit Ghalsasi, Product Manager at Xiaomi India.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 MIUI 9 update
Talking about the update first, MIUI 9 is the latest user interface from Xiaomi which is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The update brings refined notifications, background optimizations, multi-window and other features of Android to Xiaomi devices. The company has also announced MIUI 10 without unveiling any features for now.
With the stable MIUI 9 rolling out for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the device will now run the latest software from Xiaomi. The Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. In terms of optics, the device comes with a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera, also with f/2.0 aperture.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and coupled with an Adreno 510 GPU. There are two storage variants of the device, i.e. 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB.
While the phone was launched in 2016, it is still a relevant and good budget offering from Xiaomi. Also, we expect the company to provide it with the next MIUI 10 update too. We anticipate so because Xiaomi has given update support to phones as old as the Redmi 2 at the time of MIUI 9.
