Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will get Project Treble with Android 8.1 Oreo based Global Stable ROM

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro back in February this year and the smartphone is still running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI out of the box. Xiaomi’s spokesperson already confirmed the Android 8.0 Oreo update for this smartphone on Twitter.

However, the spokesperson did not share any type of timeline for the update roll out so we cannot confirm when the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is getting the update but the MIUI Beta ROM got leaked last month which has received Treble support.

Another MIUI Global Beta ROM 9.5.6.0.OEIMIFA has been leaked for the Redmi Note 5 Pro. This firmware got the March security update and based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo version. This leaked firmware supports Project Treble which confirms the Treble support for the Redmi Note 5 Pro. This new firmware also comes with new features like the upgraded notification shade and full-screen gesture support on the smartphone.

This firmware is not available via OTA update yet but if you are interested, you will be able to install this firmware on your Redmi Note 5 Pro easily. All you need to do is unlock the bootloader on your smartphone and install a TWRP custom recovery on your smartphone. This TWRP custom recovery file here works perfectly with this custom ROM as it is tested by some user on XDA Developers.

You need to flash this ROM zip available to download here for your smartphone and reboot it to get the full Android Oreo-based MIUI ROM on your Redmi Note 5 Pro and if you are patient enough then wait for the official MIUI OTA rollout.
