Xiaomi Redmi Y2 to launch in India on June 7, will be available from Amazon

Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi S2, its selfie centric device in China and the device is expected to be launched in India as the Redmi Y2, the successor of the Redmi Y1. Xiaomi has scheduled an event in India on June 7 and the company is expected to launch the Y2 at this event.

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi S2 in China as a selfie centric device last month. The Redmi Y series in India is a selfie centric series and the Redmi Y1 was the first device in this series. Now, Xiaomi has started teasing the launch of its successor. Amazon has put up a teaser on its website with the hashtag #FindYourSelfie and there is a notify me button below it.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Specifications

The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 will run on MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone will sport a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display will come with a 2.5D curved glass.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 will be powered by an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of memory, the device will come with 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB + 64GB internal storage options.


Coming to the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 will feature a dual camera setup at the back consisting of a 12MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25μm pixel size, PDAF and a 5MP secondary camera with an LED flash. On the front, the selfie centric device will sport  a 16MP camera with an LED flash.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 will be powered by a 3,080mAh battery and connectivity options on the device will include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, GPS and a USB port.
