Intex launched i-Buddy Connect 3G tablet with 7 inch display, 1GB RAM at Rs. 9,999 INR

Intex has launched the i-Buddy Connect 3G tablet for the Indian market today. The tablet is priced at 9,999 INR and should be available to Indian customers soon in the coming days and it also offers the good competition to a contender by Spice mobiles which is named as Stellar Slatepad. Let us take on the hardware specifications of the this tablet.

The Intex i-Buddy Connect 3G is a successor to the previously released i-Buddy Connect, which did not have the availability of 3G. The tablet will come bundled with Android 4.0.4 ICS, a 7inch capacitive display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM with an option of expanding storage via SD card up to 32GB in size. Connectivity options such as WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, HDMI, and dual-SIM support are present, with voice calling enabled. Two cameras – namely a rear unit of 3 megapixels, and a front-facing unit of 1.3 megapixels are present to aid in casual photography and video calling. There will be a 3500mAh battery to keep the tablet running.

The specs of the tablet suggest that it is not meant for hard-core gaming or multimedia, but instead for casual use, like a little bit of non-graphic intensive gameplay, and mostly for reading and/or web browsing. Since the screen measures 7 inches, the tablet will be fairly easy to carry around but it surely won’t fit in your pocket. The i-Buddy Connect 3G might prove to be a tough competitor to the ASUS FonePad since both tablets are fairly similar in terms of configuration, while the FonePad is priced at 15,999 INR. We would assume that the average Indian would prefer the Intex i-Buddy Connect 3G over the FonePad, given the huge difference in price and not much of difference in specs.

This is what Mr. Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, General Manager- mobile Business, Intex Technologies had to say at the lauch, “Further to our promise of continually bringing innovation to our customers at an affordable price, this is our latest offering for the urban and semi-urban youth. Aesthetically designed, i-Buddy Connect 3G aims to provide entertainment and education to our customers, considering a huge portion of them are high users of internet. India’s booming digital economy is poised to reach 350-450 million by 2015-16 and we at Intex are encouraging the growth trend by creating such products that would empower the youth to have the latest technology a click away.”

The device will come with a few pre-installed apps such as Nimbuzz, Skype, Facebook, Yahoo Messenger and Educlass, an application which provides NCERT text e-books for a variety of subjects.
