Xolo Q1000 Quick Review, Price And Comparison

The Xolo Q1000 is another device which comes from the QCORE series from Xolo. All devices under this series seem to have quad core processors, and fall in the budget category of phones. We have seen quite a few Mediatek based quad core phones of late, let us see if the Xolo Q1000 has something new to offer.

We saw other quad core devices being released by Xolo, the Q800, Q700 and now the Q1000. Quad core devices from other manufacturers include Micromax Canvas HD A116, Zen Ultraphone 701 HD, Gionee Dream D1, etc. So, it does look like the Q1000 has quite a few competitors in the market already.

Camera:

The Q1000 is said to come with an 8 megapixel rear camera with BSI support. BSI is a technology which lets you take clearer photographs even when in low light conditions, and we did see this technology being implemented in other Xolo devices. The 8MP camera comes with autofocus to help you focus on the subject automatically. When comparing this with other competitors’ cameras, the Q1000 does look like a winner on paper, the rest would depend on real-life performance, since we know that at times even an 8MP camera can take better shots than a 13MP unit.

The Micromax Canvas HD A116, Gionee Dream D1 and Zen Ultraphone, all come with the same 8 megapixel rear camera. Speaking of the front camera, the Q1000 features a 1.2 megapixel front unit which should handle your video calling needs pretty easily.

Processor and Battery:

The Q1000 comes with a Mediatek MT6589 processor, clocked at a frequency of 1.2GHz per core. The MT6589 has been well documented over the past, thanks to its popularity, performance and low cost. The processor works on an ARM Cortex A7 architecture, and is the first processor in the world which is based on the Cortex A7 architecture and is mass produced. It is a known performer, and paired with the PowerVR SGX 544 this makes it a very powerful combination for reading as well as gaming.

Speaking of the battery, the Q1000 sports a 2100mAh unit which sounds pretty good. The Micromax Canvas HD A116 also comes with a 2100mAh battery, whereas Gionee Drean D1 sports an 1800mAh unit, and the Zen Ultraphone HD comes with a 2000mAh unit. All in all, the 2100mAh should take you through the day pretty easily.

Display type and size:

Following the trend, and trying to cater to the ‘big screen’ appetite of people, the Q1000 comes with a 5 inch HD display. The resolution is 1280×720, which means the pixel density would be an impressive 293ppi. The display will come coated with DragonTail glass, which has properties similar to Gorilla Glass. This means that your phone’s display will remain protected and scratch-less even if you don’t use a screen protector.

We think that an HD resolution is good enough for a sub 6 inch device, and full HD is overkill at times, it also proves taxing on the processor and GPU. We saw two full HD devices recently; the UMI X2 and Zopo ZP980.

Conclusion And Price:

The device looks very impressive with strong hardware backing. Xolo’s cameras are proven performers, so expectations will be high with the Q1000’s shooters as well. Apart from that, we feel the device could be priced a little lesser than the mentioned tag of 13,999 INR, which makes it one among the pricier budget quad core phones in the market.

The device is not yet available, but Flipkart and Maniac Store have been found to have listed the device for 13,999 INR and 13,990 INR respectively.
