Along with Intex’s new Flagship smartphone Intex Aqua i7 (Quick Review) another device, Intex Aqua HD was made available for purchase last week. This younger brother of Aqua i7 has been designed to compete in the mid range budget quad core market, which as of now is quite overcrowded. Let’s see what new Intex is offering with this new smartphone.
Camera and Internal Storage
Camera specifications have been kept similar to the flagship device Intex Aqua i7. This phone too comes with 13 MP AutoFocus primary camera with LED flash for low light photography. A secondary camera of 5 MP is also present for video calling. The camera specifications are best on paper that we have seen so far from domestic manufacturers.
The internal storage capacity is 4 GB out of which only 923 MB will be available to the users. This is quite disappointing as many would find this insufficient for App storage. Moreover rivals like Micromax Canvas 4 are giving up to 16 GB of internal storage memory.
Processor and Battery
The processor is MediaTek MT6589 quad core processor clocked at a frequency of 1.2 GHz. The PowerVR SGX544 GPU is also present on the SoC to further aid you gaming. This processor is quite common especially in this price range and will provide with apt performance for most users. The RAM capacity backing this processor is 1 GB which is again pretty standard in this price range.
The battery capacity is 1800 mAh which is not much considering that it will provide you with a talk time of up to 5 to 6 hours only and standby time of 300 hours. Most manufactures offer a 2000 mAh battery in this price range. This battery will drain quickly while running gaming apps on the High Definition display.
Display and Features
The display size is 4.7 Inch, which many consumers prefer over regular 5 Inch displays as they are more comfortable to hold. The display resolution is 720p HD and will give you a pixel density of 312 ppi which constitutes for a fine quality display.
The display type is TFT LCD whereas many phones like Micromax Canvas HD and Lava Iris 504Q have better IPS displays, which over wider viewing angles and enhanced brightness. This Dual SIM phone (1 Micro SIM and 1 mini SIM) comes with Android 4.2 Jelly bean on the software front. Intex has not provided with any gesture control feature like Lava Iris 504q or with software tweaks like Micromax Canvas 4.
Comparison
Intex Aqua HD will be competing against phones like Micromax Canvas HD,XOLO Q1000, Lava Iris 504q and Videocon A55 HD which provide with similar specifications and IPS displays but come with a smaller 8 MP Camera. Among the 13 MP counterparts this phone will be up against Phones like Micromax Canvas 4 , which is priced slightly more but comes with better battery and more internal storage.
Looks and Connectivity
This smartphone is 7.9 mm thick and weighs moderate 133 grams. The looks are more flat rather than curved or rounded which is different though not unique. The connectivity features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G HSDPA/HSUPA, EDGE, GPRS , GPS and AGPS.
