MediaTek alledgedly Launches KitKat Drivers Tipping Imminent Rollout of Updates

India based smartphone vendors are not too prompt in releasing the latest Android updates to their offering. Especially, talking about the Android KitKat platform, Google stated that this version of the OS will be compatible even on low-end smartphones, but the reason for the delay in the update remains a mystery.

Today, Twitter bound @LeaksterInc has stated that popular chip maker MediaTek has released KitKat drivers for some of its chipsets including MT6577, MT6589, MT6592, MT6592T, MT6589T and MT6582M. The lower adoption rate of the Android KitKat update by the smartphones based on MT6589 should probably be related to this only.

Now, with the launch of the KitKat drivers, we can expect the India based vendors such as Micromax, Xolo, Lava, Karbonn and others to roll out the latest iteration of Android platform – v4.4 KitKat to their eligible smartphones with ease. The updates are believed to happen in the near future making these handsets on par with those of the global players.
