Cyanogen Inc. has launched a Themes Design Challenge and it is inviting artists and content creators to submit their original theme packs for the Cyanogen operating system. The platform will be arriving pre-installed on mobile devices. The contestants can enter designs that are capable of customizing almost all the components of the user interface such as wallpapers, icons, fonts, boot animations and controls.
The trailer featuring Themes by Cyanogen highlights level of theming possible through the upcoming Themes app. Those interested in submitting their designs can do so via Cyanogen’s initial release of Themes Studio that is an online tool to upload and publish themes content. The firm is working on other features of the Themes Studio in order to make it easier for content creators to design and publish their original themes.
Those themes that are qualified will be made available through the release of Cyanogen’s new Themes app. This app will be initially debuted on Yu phones that are slated to be launched in the country in December. The Yu brand was announced by the Micromax subsidiary in association with Cyanogen.inc and it will be available online stores.
The Themes Design Challenge will end on December 14, 2014 and a panel of judges at Cyanogen Inc. will be selecting three winning entries based on creativity and uniqueness of design, artistic expression and visual effects and completeness of required design elements. The winners will receive a prize comprising of Cyanogen branded gear and a device of their choice (from two options, most likely Micromax YU Devices).
