Fitbit Charge 2 And Flex 2 Launched, Starting At $99

Fitbit announced the successors to its Charge and Flex line of fitness trackers – the Charge 2 and Flex 2. Fitbit has worked on improving the hardware as well as software this time, with a slew of new features in tow for both the new fitness trackers. The prices have been kept low as well – the Flex 2 starts at $99 while the Charge 2 starts at $150.

The Fitbit Charge 2 is taking over from the Charge HR, with hardware upgrades like a new 1.5 inch display compared to the small and narrow one on the Charge HR. It also comes with new interchangeable bands, so you can go for a silicone band in the morning and leather and jewelry-like bands in the evening.

The Charge 2 comes with other significant hardware upgrades too. For starters, you get a connected GPS so you can connect and sync it with your smartphone’s GPS, allowing the Charge 2 to offer much more improved routes and distance calculation while you are running. Apart from that, it comes with new Interval Workout Mode that alternates you between bursts of intense exercise and low-intense activities.

The Charge 2 also gains Activity Profiles from the Surge. These activity profiles are activity-specific, allowing you to select which ones are displayed on the Charge 2. You can also call, text and view calendar alerts on the Charge 2. The Charge 2 comes with a battery life of around 5 days.

Fitbit Flex 2

The Fitbit Flex 2 takes over from the original Flex, bringing a dash of style and fashion to the Flex line. It is slimmer and looks much better than the original Flex, smaller by an inch and slimmer by 30 percent in comparison. The Flex 2 can be used with silicone bands, bangles or even necklaces.

The Flex 2 is Fitbit’s swim-tracker, allowing you to wear it up to 150 feet in water. Your swimming laps can be tracked easily with the Flex 2, displayed neatly in the company’s smartphone app.

The Flex 2 also comes with different colored notification lights for different kinds of alerts, notifications etc. It comes with a battery life of about 5 days.

Pricing And Availability

The Fitbit Charge 2 has been priced at $150, while the Flex 2 is priced at $99. Both the new fitness trackers will be available for purchase in the fall. Wider availability details are not yet known.
