Xiaomi has launched Redmi Note 4 in India today. We are seeing a successor of Redmi Note 3 and the latest in Xiaomi Redmi Note series. Retaining a lot of features from the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi has improved in a few areas on the Redmi Note 4. The display now has better viewing angles thanks to the 2.5D curved glass. The design looks and feels better. However, the phone now features a Snapdragon 625 SoC, compared to Snapdragon 650 in the Redmi Note 3.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Physical Overview
Redmi Note 4 has a metallic unibody design which makes it look good. Even the body colored fingerprint sensor at the back makes it look subtle, yet visible with its gold chrome colored outlines. Size is same as Redmi Note 3 which reminds us that handling it won’t be that hard. One hand use might become a little difficult but it should still remain usable. Look and feel of the phone is good and build quality is strong.
The phone’s dimensions are 151 x 76 x 8.4 mm and it weighs 175 grams.
Let’s take a look in the device from all possible angles.
Starting from the front, it has a 5.5 inch FHD IPS display. At the top front you can see an earpiece, front camera and ambient light sensor.
The front of the phone features an earpiece and either side of the ear piece, you will find the front camera and proximity sensor.
On the top, it has 3.5 mm headphone jack, IR blaster and the secondary mic.
At bottom of the front, it has 3 low intensity backlit navigation keys.
On the bottom, it has charging port and two grills. Of the two grills, only the right one actually houses the loudspeaker. The one on the left has the mic.
On the right side of the phone, it has volume rocker and power button. Plus, the power button doesn’t have any recognition texture.
The left side of the phone is fairly barebones, save for the hybrid dual SIM card slot.
Turning the phone around, on the back of it, we see a 13 MP camera with dual tone LED flash. Camera adds to the looks of the phone with no camera protrusion. The Fingerprint sensor is placed just below the LED flash. Camera, flash, fingerprint sensor; alignment of the three in a lines makes it look decent and clean.
At the bottom, it has the MI brand name and other certification phone details.
With 5.5 inch IPS LCD display and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, the Redmi Note 4 retains the display from its predecessor, the Redmi Note 3. With light sensors on the top, you can easily get a readable screen in case of daylight and other light changing conditions.
While it does get a little difficult to view the contents on the display under direct bright sunlight, the display fares pretty well otherwise.
Camera experience was good and pretty clear. The Redmi Note 4 comes with 13 MP f/2.0 primary camera on the back. It comes with dual-LED (dual tone) flash, phase detection autofocus, HDR, panorama and face/smile detection; camera is well equipped for outdoor and artificial light photography. You can record up to 1080p videos at 30FPS with the Redmi Note 4.
I took photos in three lights conditions i.e. daylight, artificial light and low light. Camera performed pretty well. Colors came out to be pretty good in daylight shots. Shots were taken both in flow and against the sunlight, which didn’t really affect the pixels; although colors were affected against the light. Camera worked great in artificial light conditions as well. However, low light images carried some grains visible only when I zoomed in. Overall, good color balance was seen, I can call it as close to natural in other words.

We have been testing the Redmi Note 4 for a while now. The phone performs very well. Camera worked really well in daylight as well as artificial light conditions. A decent display to help you get everyday work done, giving good screen even in the daylight. Gaming performance was also impressive, which really makes this phone a good option for gaming part. At a starting price of Rs. 9,999, Xiaomi has once again delivered a very good value for money smartphone.
