The long anticipated Moto G5 Plus is soon to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress by the end of this month. Moto G5 Plus has made its way to the internet, ahead of its launch through leaked images and specifications.
The smartphone is expected to be priced somewhere near Rs. 12000 to Rs. 14000. We are going to talk about the things that we like and dislike according to the leaked information surfacing online.
Things We Like In The Moto G5 Plus
Dual Autofocus Camera
The Moto G5 Plus will come with a 12 MP Dual Autofocus camera on the back with dual LED flash and f/1.7 aperture. The Sony Sony IMX362 sensor has 1.4 micron size pixels and was launched recently in November 2016. While we await for the real world test results of the Moto G5 Plus’ camera, it compares much better to other phones in its range, at least on paper. We’ll be sure to test the camera performance at the MWC later this month.
Display
The Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2 inch full HD IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It comes with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device comes with a pixel density of ~424 PPI. Full HD displays are a common thing in this price range these days, but Gorilla Glass 3 protection adds an extra point in Moto G5 Plus’ favour.
The decision to opt for a slightly smaller 5.2 inch display instead of a 5.5 inch display is also a good news for many users, but this is a little subjective.
Metal Unibody Design
Leaked images of the Moto G5 Plus shows that the phone has a metal unibody design and look quite nice. It’s a little different from older Moto G series phones, but it does look good. We haven’t seen metal design in any of the Moto G series before, so this is a nice change.
Android 7.0 Nougat
The Moto G5 Plus, despite being a budget phone, will come with Android 7.0 Nougat. The latest Android operating system is going to be a really good factor considering that most devices, irrespective of their budget, come with older versions of Android even now.
Things We Dislike About The Moto G5 Plus
Battery
The Motorola Moto G5 Plus comes with a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower charging support. While TurboPower charging is a positive point, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, which is going to be competing with the G5 Plus, comes with a bigger 4,100mAh battery. The decision to go with a smaller 3000 mAh battery makes little sense.
Memory
In the first full leaks of the Moto G5 Plus, we noticed that the phone comes with 2GB RAM. Now, we are expecting to see 3GB and 4GB versions as well, but insofar, we have noticed only 2GB being mentioned. If this ends up as being the only memory version, then the Moto G5 Plus will have quite an uphill task attracting any customers.
