The Moto G5 Plus looks a lot like the Moto Z Play from the back, but you won’t see such a thick look in Moto Z Play. The Moto G5 Plus has a metal unibody design and has chrome sides. Its dimensions are 150.2 x 74 x 7.7 mm, so the phone fits in your hands and is comfortable to use. Over all, the phone looks great with round shaped camera setup which includes flash in its diameter.
It has 5.2 full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
At the front top, we see an 5 MP camera accompanied by proximity sensor and ambient light sensor.
At the bottom, we see 3 on screen navigation keys with fingerprint sensor on the bottom bezel.
Phone at the back looks good with its 12 camera having minimal camera protrusion and double LED flash. Just below the camera, it has Motorola’s M logo.
Having a look at the bottom edge of the device, we see the 3.4 mm headphones jack with charging port in the middle.
Phone on its right, has volume controls and lock/power button aligned in a row.
It doesn’t have anything on its left.
On the top edge it has hybrid SIM slot, which can be removed easily using SIM ejector tool.
The moto G5 Plus comes with an IPS capacitive touchscreen with a 5.2 inch full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It disseminates good quality of colors and makes the display a good one to use for your day to day tasks.
With ambient light sensors, outdoor visibility and abrupt light condition, change is well handled.
The Moto G5 Plus was told to be the best of its class in its launch event. Well, what we found out after testing its camera was a bit different than what was said. Moto G5 Plus has a 12 MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture. Other camera specifications include- autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and auto-HDR.
We tested the camera in all three light conditions i.e. daylight, lowlight and artificial light. Images taken in all the light conditions were decent. Daylight images were the best with good color reproduction and details. The phone struggled a bit in indoor and low-light conditions. Pictures taken indoor in low light and artificial light conditions, have noise and you can see pixelation while you zoom in. Below are some camera samples taken from the Moto G5 Plus.

Low Light Samples
I played Modern Combat 5 for 15 minutes on the Moto G5 Plus. The battery level was 45% when I started and dropped down to 41% when I ended. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 along with Adreno 506 GPU seems to do a good work handling the graphics and game speed. I didn’t face any lag or frame drops while playing.
The Moto G5 Plus is a decent phone with given specifications and looks. The phone’s build is strong and even looks elegant in hand. The display quality is great and the colour reproduction is accurate. The Moto G5 Plus’ camera is one of the best ones in this class, and in our camera reviews, you will see the results of our tests of this claim. The phone is also quite power efficient thanks to the Snapdragon 625 chipset. Overall, the Moto G5 Plus is a very well rounded smartphone.
